Nepal: A Journey to Everest Base Camp

As for any trip part of the excitement comes with planning a itinerary, things to do etc. A breakdown of what I attempted to plan before I left in conjunction with the itinerary turned out to be just right.

Nepal Itinerary

The idea came about 3 years ago after watching several adventure videos. Everest was one of them and since then I have wanted to see it in person. The following is a brief summary of day to day notes leading up to the date of departure or as I recall them.

June 2014

Let the research begin. I started by contacting different tour companies and pricing them out. A spreadsheet was created to list them all and what they offered, in the end I chose Nepal Gateway Trekking Pvt. Ltd. Ram was the only one who was communicating back and forth so I told them book it! At the same time, flight tickets were booked from YYZ on June 6th, 2014. My coworker Jamie at the spur of the moment after seeing my itinerary asked me if he could join. Our boss was okay with it not knowing that he would be coming with me lol. A day or two after the okay from bossman, Jamie booked the flight getting the last seat on the plane – close call.

Gear

We brought way too much gear which sucked! A lot was left back in Kathmandu at the hotel and then more was left behind in Namche. Some of the gear laid out before the trip.
