All rested up, we try our luck at Lukla again. We packed way to much, so we further weened items to not bring along. The MEC Skyway Airline Tote came in super handy as we were able to leave our totes behind at the hotel!
With our new boarding pass at the airport, we wait for our turn. Hooray, no delays and we set board on a bus on the tarmac towards the wee little plane.

Lukla Bound
We were treated to our first view of the snow capped peak of the Himalayas! Absolutely gorgeous!

Kathmandu to Lukla
The short flight lasted about an hour. We got our bags and was soon after greeted by Amrit, our guide and Jeevan our porter. Super awesome guys! We head into Khumbu Resort for a short briefing and brunch – hot porridge. We finish up and head over to the Tourist Police checkpoint where Amirt gets our passes taken care off. Shortly after, we begin the hike to Phakding. Here we get our first glimpse of the porters who carry insane amounts of gear on their back. Its hard to imagine that almost EVERYTHING after Lukla has been brought in by feet, whether a person, Yak or Donkey, there are no paved roads or any motorized vehicles for that matter.

Porter carrying wooden doors on his back
Trekking along we come across mani stones. These stones are hand carved with Buddhist prayers engraved in them. We were told to always walk to the right of them out of respect and their culture.

Mani Stones
Prayer wheels when turned are said to bring blessings to your journey and it is customary to spin them, clockwise.

After about a two to three hour hike we reached Trekkers Lodge & Restaurant where we would spend our first night. With a two bed cozy room, it was just perfect.
